CAPOEIRA for adults

The practice you didn't know you needed!

The art of Capoeira

Curious about Capoeira? This Afro-Brazilian art form blends movement, music, and culture into one powerful practice. Born from resistance and resilience, it combines martial arts, dance, acrobatics, and functional fitness—creating a training experience that is as expressive as it is athletic. More than just a workout, Capoeira connects you to a living tradition with deep cultural roots and a rich history.

About Capoeira

Capoeira is like a playful conversation in motion. Two people move together inside a circle called the roda, trading kicks, escapes, sweeps, and acrobatics with rhythm and creativity. Live music drives the game—led by traditional instruments like the berimbau, atabaque, and pandeiro—making every round as much about energy and expression as it is about skill.

"I didn’t have much experience with Capoeira when I joined, but I felt welcomed from day one. They are very respectful and inclusive. They encourage you to be your best."
- Augusto C.

Music

Capoeira comes alive through its music. In this class, you’ll learn the rhythms, songs, and instruments that give the art its energy and spirit. From playing the berimbau, pandeiro, and atabaque to joining call-and-response songs, you’ll gain confidence and connection with every beat. No experience required—just curiosity and a love of rhythm.

The Class

What happens in a Capoeira class? You’ll start with a warm-up and stretching, then learn basic techniques—sometimes solo, sometimes with a partner. Along the way, Capoeira builds strength, flexibility, balance, rhythm, and body awareness. Don’t worry if you don’t have those yet—they’re the benefits you’ll gain with practice! At CounterBalance, we offer classes for kids (three age groups) as well as beginner, intermediate, and advanced adults.
